some words are like bullets on skin
they pellet you with pangs and leave you bleeding deep within
I hope that’s not what these words will do to you
I’m only holding this pen for I have ideas to undo
I don’t wish to burden you with these intrusive thoughts
so I’ll keep it sweet, and I’ll keep it really short:
tonight a year ago I first saw your eyes
they’ve changed since then, they’re now eyes that I despise
I don’t know if it’s you I’m talking to or someone else
the whole thing reeks of flashing lights and warning bells
this poem is about two people in one
a new subject, my words have just begun
but to the other, I think it’s time for me to say:
my ink ran out
my words have gone away.
